Oxnard police arrested a 21-year-old man early Tuesday morning in connection with a September shooting, serving search warrants with the help of two SWAT teams.
The case goes back to Sept. 21, around 8:34 p.m., when officers answered multiple calls about gunshots in the 3200 block of Olds Road. When they got there, they found evidence that a shooting had taken place, according to the Oxnard Police Department.
The department's Violent Crime Unit took over the case and identified two suspects: Victor Ortiz, 21, and Uriel Ortiz, 18, both Oxnard residents.
On Oct. 13 at about 5 a.m., the Violent Crime Unit, backed by Oxnard police's SWAT team and canine unit along with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, served two search warrants at Oxnard homes linked to the suspects. Victor Ortiz was taken into custody during one of the searches. Investigators say they recovered evidence tied to the shooting, including a firearm and ammunition.
Victor Ortiz was booked into Ventura County Jail on multiple firearm-related charges.
