Oxnard Man Arrested for Felony Vandalism Following Graffiti Investigation

A month-long investigation into a series of graffiti incidents has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Oxnard man. Rickey Reveles was taken into custody on January 15, 2026, by detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation focused on significant property damage discovered at the Highway 101 freeway entrance near Springville Drive in Camarillo, an area that has recently been targeted by local tagging crews.
Digital Evidence and Search Warrants
The case began in mid-November 2025, when deputies noticed fresh graffiti on a highway entrance sign. After determining the damage exceeded 400 dollars, the threshold for felony vandalism in California, the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit took over the case. Detectives utilized digital forensics and search warrants approved by the Ventura County Superior Court to link Reveles to the specific tagging crew signatures found at the scene.
On the morning of January 15, various investigative units conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Reveles’ vehicle. Simultaneously, a search warrant was served at his residence in the 900 block of South E Street in Oxnard. During the search, detectives recovered spray paint, specialized etching tools, and stacks of stickers bearing the name of the tagging crew. These items provided the physical evidence necessary to support the felony charges.
Public Support and Deterrence
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office credited community partnerships and public tips for helping to identify the suspects in this case. Reveles was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility and may face additional charges if he is linked to other open vandalism cases in the county. Local authorities emphasized that graffiti cleanup is a costly burden for taxpayers and that they will continue to pursue felony charges against those who deface public infrastructure.
Ventura County Crime Stoppers has played an active role in this crackdown, offering rewards of up to 1,000 dollars for information leading to the arrest of tagging crew members. As the investigation into other members of the crew remains active, deputies are encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity near freeway overpasses and sound walls. Reveles is currently awaiting his arraignment, while investigators review the seized evidence for potential connections to gang-related activities.
