OXNARD, Calif. — Residents across the City of Oxnard are invited to join local law enforcement, firefighters, and community leaders tonight, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, for the 41st annual National Night Out celebration.
National Night Out is a nationwide community-building campaign held annually on the first Tuesday in August. Designed to foster strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie, the event brings together public safety personnel and the residents they serve in a relaxed, family-friendly environment.
In Oxnard, 12 active Neighborhood Councils have partnered with the Oxnard Police Department, the Oxnard Fire Department, and local civic organizations to host free neighborhood block parties and park gatherings throughout the city tonight.
Strengthening Police-Community Partnerships
Public safety representatives emphasize that National Night Out serves a vital role in building mutual trust, facilitating constructive dialogue, and enhancing crime prevention efforts across local neighborhoods.
Events scheduled across Oxnard tonight will feature static displays of police patrol cars, SWAT vehicles, and fire engines, alongside interactive games, food, activities for children, and information booths highlighting local community resources.
Children and families will have the opportunity to meet first responders, explore emergency equipment, and engage in conversations with beat officers, fire crews, and community outreach officers.
"National Night Out is about so much more than police cars and emergency vehicles. It's about neighbors getting to know neighbors. It's about children meeting the officers and firefighters who serve their community," the Oxnard Police Department stated in a public announcement inviting residents to attend. "It's about conversations, laughter, games, food, and building the trust that makes neighborhoods stronger."
How to Find an Event Near You

Events are taking place in multiple parks and neighborhood centers across the city throughout the evening.
