OXNARD, Calif. — Major Crimes Detectives with the Oxnard Police Department have formally arrested a 28-year-old local resident in connection with an officer-involved shooting that took place in mid-June along Neap Place, law enforcement officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Victor Gallegos of Oxnard, was formally taken into custody and booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Gallegos faces a slate of serious felony charges stemming from the violent encounter with law enforcement, including assault upon a peace officer, battery upon a peace officer, attempting to prevent an executive officer from performing their duty, and felony evading an officer.
Following his formal booking on the new warrant charges, judicial authorities set Gallegos’ bail at $1,000,000.00 as he awaits his upcoming initial court appearance and arraignment in Ventura County Superior Court.
