OXNARD, Calif. — A targeted criminal investigation into illegal weapons possession in Oxnard led to the arrest of a prohibited felon and the seizure of an untraceable "ghost gun" during a Friday afternoon search warrant raid, law enforcement officials reported.
The specialized firearms enforcement operation was conducted by officers and detectives assigned to the Oxnard Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit (SEU).

Authorities identified the arrested suspect as 28-year-old Eloy Pina, a resident of Oxnard.
Pina was taken into custody on Friday afternoon, September 11, 2026, following the execution of a search warrant at his residence situated in the 100 block of Gibraltar Street in Oxnard.
Special Enforcement Unit Investigation and Search Warrant Service
According to an official incident advisory released by Oxnard Police Department Sergeant Jason Radcliffe, SEU detectives initiated a targeted investigation into Pina's activities following intelligence reports indicating illegal weapons possession.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on September 11, SEU tactical officers executed a search warrant signed by a Ventura County Superior Court judge at Pina's Gibraltar Street home.
Officers secured the residential perimeter and conducted a systematic search of the living spaces and interior rooms.
During the search, detectives located a loaded, manufactured Polymer80 (P80) semi-automatic handgun—commonly referred to in law enforcement as an untraceable "ghost gun" due to its lack of a commercial serial number—alongside a supply of live firearm ammunition.
Prohibited Status, Firearms Charges, and SEU Mandate
Investigating officers conducted background checks through state law enforcement databases, confirming that Pina is legally prohibited from purchasing, owning, or possessing firearms and ammunition due to prior criminal convictions or judicial disqualifications.
Pina was placed under arrest at the scene without incident and formally booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura on multiple felony weapons violations:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person: Unlawful possession of a handgun by a restricted individual
- Possession of Ammunition by a Prohibited Person: Illegal control of live ammunition rounds
- Possession of an Unregistered / Unserialized Firearm: Unlawful possession of a ghost gun lacking state registration markings
"The search warrant resulted in locating an unregistered P80 handgun, commonly referred to as a 'ghost gun,' and ammunition. Pina is a person prohibited from owning firearms and ammunition. Pina was arrested for various firearm related charges," the Oxnard Police Department detailed in its official news release.
"The Oxnard Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit is committed to reducing gang crimes and gun violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the city," public safety representatives added.
