Qatar Condemns Strikes on Neutral Nations Amid Heightened US-Iran Conflict

Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Hind Bint Abdul Rahman Al Muftah, has formally condemned military attacks on countries not directly involved in the ongoing conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel.
Speaking before officials in Geneva on Wednesday, Al Muftah described such actions as a clear violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.
The diplomatic statement follows a significant escalation in Middle Eastern hostilities that began on February 28. President Donald Trump initiated strikes on Iranian nuclear sites and high-ranking officials following the collapse of diplomatic negotiations.
Tehran responded to the U.S. strikes by targeting several Gulf nations. Despite a long-standing economic relationship centered on the shared North Dome/South Pars gas field, Iran launched strikes against Qatari infrastructure.
Impacted locations include the Al Udeid Air Base and Ras Laffan Industrial City. Al Muftah stated that Doha has intentionally distanced itself from the hostilities since the beginning of the crisis.
“We have dissociated ourselves from the outset from this war, and we have refused to be part of the escalation,” Al Muftah told the UN assembly. She emphasized that attacking a state that has not permitted the use of its territory for hostilities undermines global security.
Iranian officials have defended their actions by accusing Gulf countries of providing military bases to the United States for launching offensive strikes. Doha has consistently denied these claims, maintaining its position as a neutral intermediary.
Qatar has historically positioned itself as a primary mediator in regional disputes. The latest remarks reflect growing concerns that the conflict could expand to draw in more nations across the region.
The Qatari envoy’s address highlights the increasingly fragile security environment facing the Middle East. Doha continues to call for immediate restraint and the resumption of dialogue between all conflicting parties.
The international community remains on high alert as the threat of further retaliation persists. Qatar’s commitment to neutrality remains a central pillar of its foreign policy amid the widening crisis.
