Rideshare Nightmare: Driver Arrested for Alleged Rape of Unconscious Passenger

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. — A local rideshare driver is behind bars after being accused of a truly horrifying crime. Simranjit Singh Sekhon, a 35 year old man, was arrested following a major investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives say Sekhon sexually assaulted a 21 year old woman while she was unconscious in his vehicle during what should have been a routine trip.
🚗 The Ride that Never Ended
The scary situation began back in November 2025. According to investigators from the Major Crimes Sexual Assault Unit, the victim was picked up by Sekhon in Thousand Oaks. Her destination was in Camarillo and she eventually lost consciousness during the drive.
Even though the rideshare app showed that the trip was officially marked as completed, police say that Sekhon did not stop. Instead he allegedly continued to drive the unconscious woman around Camarillo. It was during this time that the assault occurred. This is a terrifying breach of trust for anyone who relies on these apps to get home safely after a night out.
⚖️ Locked Up with a Massive Bail
Sekhon was tracked down and arrested on Tuesday, December 15. He has been officially charged with the rape of an unconscious victim. Because the crime is so serious, his bail has been set at a staggering $500,000. He is currently being held in custody and is expected to face a judge on December 17 for his next court appearance.
The Sheriff’s Office is not done with him yet. Detectives have a strong feeling that there might be other victims out there who have not come forward yet. They are urging anyone who had a weird experience with this driver or who knows anything at all to speak up.
