Sacramento Police Investigate Large-Scale Convenience Store Looting Incident

A large group of individuals swarmed a Sacramento gas station convenience store last week, causing extensive damage and merchandise loss in a coordinated incident captured on surveillance video.

The event occurred on the evening of March 19 at the Chevron station located at the intersection of Power Inn Road and Folsom Boulevard.

Footage from the scene shows an initial small group rapidly expanding to approximately 30 young people who flooded the premises simultaneously.

Participants moved quickly through the aisles, pulling items off shelves and discarding snacks and beverages across the floor.

Satish Chandra, the lone employee on duty, reported being overwhelmed as the group vandalized the interior.

Chandra told reporters that he attempted to intervene but found the volume of people impossible to manage as they grabbed various goods and threw them throughout the store.

At 8:04 p.m., Chandra contacted 911 to request emergency assistance.

Sacramento Police confirmed that officers did not immediately arrive at the scene because they were already responding to a separate disturbance involving juveniles nearby in the 200 block of Bicentennial Circle.

Store manager Shailesh Chand reviewed the footage and noted the significant financial impact on the business.

Chand expressed concern over the safety of his staff and stated that the incident adds to existing economic pressures caused by declining fuel sales.

The incident gained national attention after being reported by Fox News on March 25.

The footage was subsequently shared widely on social media platforms on March 26, sparking renewed debate over retail security and law enforcement response times in California.

Critics and observers online have cited the recording as an example of ongoing challenges facing small businesses in the region.

Many have called for stricter accountability and faster police intervention to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

As of Thursday, the Sacramento Police Department has not announced any arrests or identified suspects in connection with the March 19 event.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding the individuals in the video to contact local law enforcement.
