Pure terror erupted inside a local department store when a violent predator launched a completely unprovoked, random assault on innocent shoppers.
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Simi Valley Police Department officers rushed to the Target located at 51 Tierra Rejada Road following frantic emergency calls. Terrified witnesses reported that a man had stormed into the store and immediately began brutally choking a female customer who was simply standing at a checkout register.
The store's loss prevention officer alongside several heroic bystanders instantly jumped in to save the woman. At that point, the violent suspect, identified as thirty-four-year-old Simi Valley resident Rejean Tabor, turned on the good Samaritans and began savagely attacking anyone trying to assist, including a helpless child.
As the violent chaos unfolded, quick-thinking Target employees initiated an emergency evacuation, clearing panicked shoppers from the building as police units swarmed the scene. Officers entered the store and cornered Tabor in the grocery section, where he was throwing items before being taken into custody without further incident.
The initial female victim, who investigators confirmed did not know Tabor, was rushed by family members to a local hospital, where she remains in stable condition. Multiple other shoppers, including the juvenile, sustained injuries during the melee and were treated by emergency medical personnel at the scene.
Tabor was hauled away in handcuffs and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail on a string of severe felony charges, including Attempted Murder, Burglary, Assault, Battery, and Cruelty to a Minor.

**THE QUICK BREAKDOWN
- The Attack: Rejean Tabor (34) stormed the Simi Valley Target and randomly started choking a woman at the checkout counter.
- The Brawl: Bystanders, store security, and a child tried to intervene, prompting Tabor to violently attack them as well.
- The Evacuation: Target employees executed an emergency evacuation of the entire store as police swarmed the building.
- The Arrest: Cops cornered Tabor in the grocery section where he was throwing items and took him down without incident.
- The Charges: Tabor is locked up at the Ventura County Main Jail for Attempted Murder, Burglary, Assault, Battery, and Child Cruelty.
The absolute bottom line is that this is a terrifying reminder of how quickly a mundane trip to the store can turn into a life-or-death struggle. Going to Target at six o'clock on a Wednesday evening should never require you to fight off a homicidal attacker.
The heroic actions of the bystanders and the security officer are the only reason this didn't end in a funeral, and they deserve immense credit for putting their own safety on the line to save a stranger.
Finding out that this was a completely random attack makes the situation incredibly chilling for every family in the 805 area code. We cannot tolerate a society where violent predators can walk into a local business and choke women or assault children with total impunity.
The Simi Valley Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the encounter or has video footage to contact their Detective Bureau immediately to ensure prosecutors have an ironclad case to keep Tabor behind bars for a very long time.
