OXNARD, Calif. — Detectives assigned to the Oxnard Police Department Violent Crimes Unit are investigating a late-night shooting that left a 16-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound in a residential commercial area of Wagon Wheel Road, public safety officials announced Thursday.
The incident occurred during the evening hours of Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at approximately 9:06 p.m. near 2651 Wagon Wheel Road in Oxnard.
According to an official media advisory released by the Oxnard Police Department, emergency dispatchers received multiple urgent calls reporting gunshots fired and an injured subject in the 2600 block of Wagon Wheel Road. Patrol officers alongside emergency medical services (EMS) personnel were dispatched to the scene immediately.
First Responder Intervention and Medical Transport
Upon arriving at the scene near Wagon Wheel Road, responding officers located the 16-year-old victim, an Oxnard resident, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his upper torso.
