A Wisconsin high school teacher is under fire after posting online that a recent assassination attempt on President Trump should have succeeded.
Patrick Meyer, a social studies teacher at Kaukauna High School, allegedly wrote on X that he was disappointed the shooter failed. The post also referenced past presidential assassins and included the phrase “MAGA A”, which he described as “Make Americans Great Assassins Again.”
Once screenshots began spreading online, backlash came fast.
The Kaukauna Area School District announced Meyer has been placed on administrative leave while the situation is reviewed. District officials said they reject any conduct that encourages violence and are handling the matter under school policy.
The controversy exploded further after Libs of TikTok shared the teacher’s comments publicly, noting Meyer teaches students and posting the school’s contact information. That triggered a wave of demands for permanent termination.
Critics say someone trusted to educate students should never joke about political violence. Others argue due process should play out before final disciplinary action is taken.
The incident lands at a tense political moment, where threats, heated rhetoric, and online extremism remain major national concerns. It also raises fresh questions about how schools handle staff behavior outside the classroom, especially when public safety and politics collide.
For now, Meyer remains off campus as the investigation continues.
