‘They’re Losing Ground’: Bernie Sanders Claims Trump in a ‘Panic’ as Iran War Costs Spiral

Senator Bernie Sanders is pulling no punches as he accuses President Donald Trump of a glib and dangerous approach to an escalating war with Iran that is now carrying a massive 200 billion dollar price tag.
During a fiery interview, Sanders characterized the president as an authoritarian and a pathological liar who lacks empathy for the human cost of the conflict he helped ignite.
The veteran senator from Vermont warned that the White House is preparing to ask the Senate for a staggering 200 billion dollar supplemental war funding request, a move he believes will face a tough vote from a public already struggling to survive.
Sanders pointed out the stark irony of a government that claims it cannot afford universal health care or child care while simultaneously finding hundreds of billions for a Middle Eastern conflict that should never have been fought.
The human toll is already catastrophic according to the senator, who noted that a million people in Lebanon have been displaced while Israel continues aggressive movements in the West Bank that make a two-state solution nearly impossible.
Sanders took particular aim at the continued arming of Israel, arguing that providing another 20,000 bombs to a country accused of genocide in Gaza is not only a moral failure but a direct violation of American law regarding human rights.
He alleged that Prime Minister Netanyahu has spent forty years pushing for a war with Iran and finally found a willing partner in Trump to start the engines of a regional disaster.
Beyond the battlefield, Sanders claims the administration is reaching a breaking point as they lose their grip on the political narrative due to massive public discontent and skyrocketing gas prices.
Clearly, I think the Trump people are in a bit of panic, Sanders stated during the discussion, adding with conviction that they’re losing ground as the reality of the conflict sets in.
The senator is calling for a unified political movement of working people to end Trumpism once and for all, starting with the 2026 midterm elections.
Sanders also expanded his critique to the domestic front, blasting tech billionaires like Jeff Bezos for investing in AI and robotics with the explicit goal of replacing human labor and throwing workers onto the street.
He questioned the long-term logic of the billionaire class, asking how the economy is supposed to function if mass unemployment means no one has the money to buy the products these automated companies produce.
With 1 trillion dollars already appropriated and a new multi-billion dollar request on the horizon, Sanders maintains that the greed of the few is driving America toward both a forever war abroad and an economic crisis at home.
