Thousand Oaks Approves Millions for Water and Sewer System Upgrades

The City of Thousand Oaks is moving forward with major infrastructure improvements, committing millions of dollars to repair and upgrade its water and wastewater systems. The decision was made during a City Council meeting held on December 2.

💧 Scope of the Upgrades

The upgrades include significant work on the city’s sewage system, particularly the construction of new wastewater filters. In addition to the sewage project, the council approved more than a million dollars in spending for other water maintenance efforts.

Public Works Director Nader Heydari said these improvements are part of a larger plan aimed at ensuring reliable and safe utility services for residents. The upgrades fall under the city’s previously approved $160 million capital budget plan for fiscal years 2026 and 2027.

💸 Budget Breakdown

Of the total capital improvement plan, the water and wastewater components represent one of the most substantial investments. The city is prioritizing these areas to maintain infrastructure integrity and to meet future demands.

🌱 Long-Term Planning

City officials explained that the water infrastructure investments are intended to support growing residential and business needs while also addressing aging systems. The projects are part of Thousand Oaks' broader strategy to modernize essential services and ensure sustainability.

🛠 Why It Matters

Investments in water and sewer infrastructure are crucial for the health and safety of any community. Thousand Oaks' commitment reflects a proactive approach to long-term planning, environmental responsibility, and public service reliability.
