Tom Holland made a new drink because Zendaya hated his beer

The Spider-Man star launched a no-alcohol shandy line priced at $19.99 for a 12-pack after his partner's honest feedback.

True love means listening when the person who matters most tells you the truth. Sometimes, that honest feedback can spark a whole new business.

WHAT HAPPENED

Tom Holland has a no-alcohol beer brand called Bero. But his partner Zendaya does not drink alcohol and did not like the taste of his beer.

To fix this, Holland and his team made a new line of no-alcohol shandies. The recipe blends 30% of his golden pilsner with 70% sweet lemonade.

The new drinks come in four flavors: classic lemon lime, grapefruit, elderflower, and blackberry yuzu. They will hit Target stores soon for $19.99 per 12-pack.

WHAT THE MONEY/EVIDENCE SHOWS

The new drinks are 30% beer and 70% lemonade.

  • A 12-pack of the no-alcohol shandies will cost $19.99.
  • Each can of the new drink contains less than 100 calories.
  • No-alcohol drink sales in the U.S. now reach nearly $1 billion each year.
  • Other stars like George Clooney have entered the space, with his brand raising $15 million.

THE BIGGER QUESTION

Why are so many famous stars rushing to sell us drinks without alcohol? This trend is growing fast as more young people choose to stay sober. But we have to wonder if these brands can survive on their own once the star power fades.

THE OTHER SIDE

Some critics say star-backed brands are just easy cash grabs that crowd out smaller local drink makers. They argue that famous names hide the fact that these drinks are often just overpriced soda. Yet, Holland says he wants Bero to stand on its own feet even if his name is not on it. Based on the sales growth, the market seems strong enough to fit both big stars and small brands.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW

People who want to drink less alcohol will have more options on store shelves this summer. The new shandies go on sale online in early June and will hit Target shelves on June 14.

WHAT WE STILL DON'T KNOW

Will people keep buying star-backed drinks once the first hype dies down?

  • How will other big drink brands respond to this rapid rise of no-alcohol options?
  • Will Zendaya's favorite grapefruit flavor become the best seller of the group?
