Trump Administration Sued Over Climate Rollback

The Trump administration is facing a major legal showdown after moving to repeal the Obama-era “endangerment finding,” the scientific determination that greenhouse gases threaten public health. A coalition of 17 environmental and health organizations filed suit in Washington, D.C., targeting the Environmental Protection Agency and Administrator Lee Zeldin directly.

At the center of the fight is the rollback of regulations limiting emissions from cars, trucks, airplanes, and power plants. These rules were built on a 2009 scientific finding that greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane harm human health.

Now, under Zeldin’s leadership, the EPA claims emissions from power plants “do not contribute significantly” to dangerous air pollution,  despite the agency’s own data showing fossil fuel burning remains one of the nation’s top emission sources.

Critics call it illegal. The administration calls it economic growth.

Supporters argue that deregulation will lower costs and boost the industry. Opponents warn it could increase pollution, drive up healthcare expenses, and even raise vehicle costs long-term.

Is this a pro-economy pivot,  or a public health gamble?
