Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for several suspects involved in a violent beating at a South Sacramento gas station that left a man hospitalized on Monday.

The attack, which was captured on camera and has spread across social media, is currently the center of an active investigation.

Authorities state that the confrontation began as a verbal exchange between two men at a Fastrip gas station before escalating within seconds.

Video footage shows one man holding a two by four while several others join in, turning the dispute into a brutal group assault.

Witnesses and investigators noted that the victim appeared to be knocked unconscious but continued to be assaulted and kicked in the head.

Sergeant Edward Igoe, a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, said the victim was a Hispanic male who was also carjacked during the incident.

A group of three to four Black male adults allegedly committed the assault and fled the scene in the victim’s truck.

Deputies arrived at the scene to find the victim unconscious and provided immediate aid until first responders transported him to a local hospital.

The morning following the attack, the sheriff’s office successfully located the victim’s truck and took it into possession for forensic examination.

Investigators plan to search the vehicle for fingerprints and DNA to help identify the individuals responsible for the beating.

A local resident named Daniel who viewed the footage described the attack as shocking and stated he had not seen anything that serious in his fifteen years of living there.

The sheriff’s office is urging anyone who can identify the people in the video or who has information about the case to come forward immediately.
